90th ANNIVERSARY EARLVILLE COUNTRY CLUB

Clubhouse 1950sIn the midst of the Great Depression, forty men including businessmen, doctors, farmers, laborers and retirees initiated the effort to build a 3-hole golf course in 1928.  By spring of the following year enough money had been raised to build 9 holes.  The course was completed by 1931 as a result of the perseverance and dedication of the board, support of the community and generous donation by Ralph Dodge at the time of his death.  The Earlville County Club has been a hidden gem in our community for years and it continues to provide fun and challenge for golfers today.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Two of our downtown businesses are celebrating anniversaries in 2019!

Sandy Cox of Sandy’s Shear Magic is celebrating 30 years in her downtown location (although she’s been in business a bit longer than that!).  Her shop is located at 127 W Railroad St. in Earlville.  Sandy is an active member of the Earlville Business Association.

Stacy Grey of The Barber Shop is celebrating 10 years of business at 121 S Ottawa St.

Both ladies are active in community events and are great supporters of Earlville.  Thank you for your contributions and congratulations to both!!

NEED YOUR HELP!!

ECHS is looking for photos of storefronts of the business district from 1950-1990.  If you, your parent, or your grandparent owned a business during that time we’d love to scan a copy (better yet, if the owner of the store is in the picture, that would be great)!  We are also looking for pictures of: Maple Leaf Lake; the front of the Lyric Theatre; and any old houses in town, please contact us via our email at:  earlville.history@yahoo.com
