We have always been fortunate to have the support from our members and community whether its the extra couple of bucks you drop in our donation crock, or a “keep the change” when purchasing a calendar, buying a membership, or including us in your annual donation or as a memorial for your loved one. However, Christmas came early this year when Dave and Helen Michelsen came forth last month and wrote a check for $6,363 to the Historical Society to pay off the mortgage owed to the Pioneer State Bank! This year, in particular, with fundraisers and other events being cancelled, we are so grateful. Earlville is a great place to live, and we hope that our Museum continues to reflect that!
During the summer we finally were able to finish up some improvements to the little shed to the south of the Museum. Many of you will remember it as Charlie Biehl’s woodworking shop. A new roof and new floor were installed creating a space that can now be used as a display area. It’s a perfect space to feature our Agriculture display including items used on the farms long ago, the grain elevators, hemp mill, blacksmithing, livery stables, dairies, trucking and more.
